Understanding the Technology Learners

As we observed in our existing world, we could really make a distinction between the learners of the present generation and the learners of the previous generation. Learners from the past read the information found in the book, while learners today depend on the internet and they appear to be smarter than the previous learners. These new learners are regarded as technology dependent. They will just sit there and listen and becomes active again whenever a video presentation is presented. Even in group activities and computer classes. They are so active when it comes to the use of the gadgets they have. They become acquainted with the use of cellphones, laptops, iPads, and other gadgets. Another concern is that some of the teachers now are still using traditional way of teaching without being aware that their students are informational technology or digital learners. They got easily bored when they will just standby in their respective seats and do nothing, of course!
As a student, I’ve experienced the same thing. I become active when there is video presented. I am learning more through technology by acquiring information on the different websites specifically Google and the like. Also, Facebook is seemed to be a part of my daily routine and I just could not end the day without it. Aside from Facebook, I also have accounts of the other social sites like the Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Spotify Premium, educational websites, etc. In the school scenario, I have learned how to use the different Microsoft office applications way back in high school in our computer class.
But, despite of the positive things that I get from using the technology, I also realized that negative things are present. It is very evident that upon using the internet, we tend to spend money of course, also we already rejected the use of the books.

There is benefit for us students and also as future teachers since we will be dealing with the so-called “Technology Leaners”, maybe they are more equipped than us. We must consider their attitudes towards learning because we cannot blame them for being driven by the use of technology since they are exposed to it and we cannot deny that.
